Victory in Iowa Caucuses Critical – Except If Ron Paul Wins

“Ron Paul may win in Iowa, but he will never be the republican nominee, so then the important thing will be who came second”, a Fox news “Republican Polling Strategist” reports.

Not that a single one of us would be surprised by this line of reportage. But it’s interesting that the message has started circulating three weeks from the big day.

Amongst the thousands of hours of television news devoted to discussing the likely outcome of the iowa Caucuses, Ron Paul receives little positive coverage. In recent days the media has started telling us that Ron Paul may “surprise” in Iowa. They’ve given themselves an out.

But then on Fox News a panel of republican insider strategists spoke at length about the Gingrich vs. Romney showdown and who might take the Iowa prize. It was critical that a strong showing be made in Iowa. Iowa is, apparently, a true guide to the thinking of the average american, so Gingrich beating Romney would be a huge filip for his campaign. Blah blah blah.

Then with a distinct look of disgust on his face the polling strategist was asked to comment on the chances of the “surprise” candidate, Ron Paul.  (paraphrased) “If Ron Paul wins…. then the person who came second is the winner”.

It’s more evidence that Ron Paul’s going to win Iowa. But if Ron Paul comes second by a handful of votes he may has well have not bothered trying. He will be entirely marginalised as he was after the Ames straw poll. If he wins he cannot be ignored entirely, only cheated of a fair share of positive coverage. But there’s nothing new there.

When Ron Paul wins his victory will be compared to Huckabee’s or Howard Dean’s. Probably both. And when that happens, it may spur another few percent of the majority of Americans who don’t trust the media to move towards Ron Paul.

The Attack Phase Begins

Yesterday’s CNN debate had Ron Paul centre stage and heavily involved, receiving  more questions and response opportunities. While Ron Paul supporters are encouraged by this turn of events, I feel the good doctor has fallen into a trap.

First, CNN would enjoy Ron Paul truth telling against the rest of the field. Dr. Paul would effectively be arguing much of the liberal case and make most of the chicken hawks on stage squirm.

But more likely, this debate gave the media an opportunity to build up a bank of sound bites which can be spun to show weakness on national defense and anti israel tendencies.

Google News carried nearly 5,000 articles listed on this topic, including all major media outlets which normally blank him. Fox News have discussed his weaknesses as they see them with a constant patronising tone on every program. Again, Fox News has suddenly discussed Ron Paul’s naivety and foolishness on national security at length. On “The Five” one of the assembled goons went so far as to say Ron Paul may get lucky and finish third in Iowa. Every word of the coverage is negative and his support is downgraded.

Ron Paul is gaining momentum and the establishment are terrified his certain  win in Iowa may bring the high percentage pf undecided voters Paul’s way.

2,500 US Marines for Darwin Shoot Us In The Foot

There’s been a lot of crowing this week in Australia about a new base to house 2,500 Marines in Darwin. It’s alleged this makes us safer, etc. While we’re sold a positive story and feel “safer” in diplomacy terms this is a big slap in the face for China. The big US dog sauntered into the neighbourhood, sent our Prime Minister into a swoon and cocked his leg over Darwin, marking some new territory.

I doubt the Marines will be here to defend our shores. We are now about to experience some more blow-back from our kid brother, all-the-way-with-LBJ foreign policy.

The only diplomatic mission which didn’t attend the great celebratory party in Canberra was the Chinese. Kevin “Sinologist” Rudd did his diplomatic best to make things infinitely worse,  ticking off the Chinese for feeling a miffed and pointing out we would do what we damn well liked.

While there’s a whole lot of talk about free trade agreements, any we negotiate with the USA inevitable work against our interests. There is no way our agricultural exports will be allowed into the US unless on uneconomic terms. In return we’ll get done over on everything we touch. That’s how they usually work.

Then we have our biggest and fastest growing, engine of world growth, trading partner. And we’ve just blown a big raspberry in their face.

If we’d rejected the opportunity to provide a base for China’s antagonist, imagine the opportunities it could build for our country. If we supported China, or more correctly, neutrality, and led parties towards reducing US/China military tension in our region it would open a range of opportunities for the nation, economically and strategically. Instead we’ve had the richest guy in town turn up at the front door with a diamond necklace and 100 red roses only for mother Julia to slam the door in his face.

Rudd is disliked by the Chinese. His interest in their culture has not taught him any appreciation or empathy for them. He’s studied them like insects because it was a smart career move for an ambitious technocrat. There’s no evidence he had any interest in China before he tugged the sleeve of a member of foreign affairs for advice and was told he should learn a language.

As a blundering amateur who has done business with Chinese people for over 30 years  and read about the country’s extraordinary history, I have one main observation. China, is inward looking. China spent centuries building a wall to keep the barbarians out. China could have ruled the world but had no interest in doing so.

China is interested in defense of its borders, not invasion.

Even after hundreds of trips to China Rudd has proven to be a liability for Australia. It prove the Chinese are good judges of character. Rudd is an unpleasant person regardless of the language he’s speaking.

Ron Paul Beats Obama with Independants

In what seems to be a sudden surge of improved poll results for Ron Paul a new Public Policy Poll shows him leading obama 48% to 39%. Paul is the only republican candidate who beats Obama in the poll, further evidence Ron Paul would also be the best candidate to beat Obama, the alleged main objective of the GOP puppet masters.

This is more bad news for the establishment. It’s another story they have to keep under wraps, another set of graphs and charts to doctor. Because the clear preference for Ron Paul by independents would be a telling factor in the election. Add Ron Paul’s  anti-war appeal to many democrats and you have a strong candidate before you consider Ron Paul would take Obama to pieces in debate.

With 7 weeks to go until Iowa, Ron Paul is in a position to win, and win well.  These surges in the polls are giving the Paul campaign renewed energy and increased positive media coverage. Ron Paul’s support only ever goes up, it never goes down. I expect a strong win in Iowa.

Polls Show Ron Paul Leading In Iowa

Miraculously, in the space of a couple of weeks, Ron Paul’s support has “surged” according to a range of new polls which all showed Paul leading or a close second. Perhaps it is a “surge” brought on by the blanket television advertising the campaign has bought in Iowa, but the truth is Ron Paul has had a professional, energised organisation on the ground in Iowa for the best part of a year.  Most of us following the campaign were convinced Dr. Paul was performing far better than official polling.

Fox news prefers to use their own “national” poll when discussing Iowa, which shows Ron Paul at a fraudulently low 8%. Apparently these are better statistics to quote when discussing Iowa voter intentions than numerous actual survey of iowa voters, all of which show Ron Paul in a commanding position.

And he’s in a commanding position, even though the polls show him level pegging with Cain Gingrich and Romney his supporter base will turn out at a multiple of unenthusiastic supporters of the other candidates. The original result of the Iowa straw poll was a true indication of Ron Paul’s strength. It’s likely his other straw poll victories across the country will also translate into strong voter turn out in the primaries.

The Figures Show Why The Establishment is Scared

Say for a moment the major media polls are close to the truth, even though we know they deliberately understate Ron Paul’s support.

Cain – 31%, Romney – 28%, Paul – 13%

Then think about the fact that the usual turn-out at the polls in primaries is 20% of eligible voters. That’s right, only 20%.

Look how the figures for critical early state Iowa pan out: 1,500,000 registered voters. A third are registered republicans and eligible to vote in the primary. With a 20% turn out approximately 100,000 votes will be cast in the Iowa primary. But because Ron Paul supporters have proven ability to turn out on the day, the likely election day stats vary significantly.

If, conservatively, 13% of Republicans are Paul supporters, that makes a total of 65,000 registered Paul supporters. With a likely 90% turn-out of Paul supporters we’re talking the possibility of 58,500 votes out of 100,000. Even with significant variation from this conservative thumbnail calculation you can see that things are far more evenly balanced than the media and the official polls are telling us.

Even with significant variation on these statistics, it’s clear that Ron Paul will be a major influence in the primaries race and because of the multiplier effect of his rusted-on supporters’ commitment to the electoral process current polling has little to do with what will happen on the day.

See why the establishment is scared? And these same election day projections apply even more strongly if Ron Paul were to run as a third party candidate.

Fox News & CNN both start singing “Ron Paul’s a Spoiler”

Fox News has done everything it can to ignore Ron Paul but in recent days he has received quite a bit of attention. They’ve raked over every comment which could be used and finally settled on the “spoiler” story. By strange coincidence Wolf Blitzer of CNN has happened upon the same angle in the same week.

While it’s very annoying that these major media outlets fill the tiny amount of space they offer Ron Paul with negative space the trend in the last two weeks is to go on the attack, and the “third party spoiler” angle is a call to Republicans to be wary of considering Dr. Paul lest they split the vote and deliver another four years to Obama.

The sudden change of direction in countering Ron Paul ascendency is informative. Silencing and belittling Ron Paul has obviously failed, and I have no doubt the new attack position is a result of establishment polling. They see that Ron Paul is winning over undecided republicans. And there are a lot of undecided or unenthusiastic republicans.

A disengaged electorate is less likely to turn-out. Is there genuine enthusiasm for Romney or Cain? We know Ron Paul supporters will turn-out at a 90-95% rate. And in primaries the usual voter turn-out is not much more that 20%. Can you see now why the establishment is running scared?

The Dream – Obama Vs. Paul

One of the consistent messages put about by the agents of disinformation is that the Ron Paul candidacy is some sort of democrat dirty tricks campaign designed to ensure Obama wins a second term. The thinking goes something like this……

If Ron Paul were to win the nomination he would be eaten alive by Obama during the campaign. Ron Paul’s grandfatherly demeanor, sometimes garbled message, and preference for referencing obscure economic and philosophic positions would allow him to be steamrolled by the ultra-slick Obama machine.

Of course, that’s the preferred opinion of the establishment and the media. I believe Ron Paul’s stick-to-the-facts delivery and depth of economic understanding would see Obama crumble into a twitching heap, madly tapping his earpiece and glancing towards his teleprompter hoping the answer would miraculously appear – like it always seemed to in the past.

Straight up, Professor Obama of Harvard University is said to be a Constitutional law expert. I wish him all the luck in the world debating Ron Paul on the constitution. Obama’s position on the constitution has always been finding dubious loop-holes which allow socialists to act contrary to its clear guidelines. “Constitutional law” and International law are the two filler subjects in a law course. They are meaningless in real terms and therefore it’s no surprise that Obama was reserved the honour of delivering pompous lectures to the undergraduates.

The 2012 election cycle is all about the economy. The foreign policy issues are also about the economy, or rather the economy’s ability to sustain the cost of foreign adventurism.

Imagine an economic debate between Ron Paul and Obama. Obama blathers something about the need to “care” and “change” and be “inclusive”. Ron Paul points out that none of that means anything. All of that is funded by taking the money from somebody else who earned it. Obama tells us he has plans to fix the problems in the economy and create more jobs. Ron Paul says it is impossible for the government to create jobs, as evidenced by trillions of dollars of failed spending initiatives.

Then the knock-out punch. TARP bailouts, of which the main beneficiaries were the major sponsors of Obama’s campaign. Obama will argue that the plan was brilliant, however due to naughty Republicans in congress it was poorly implemented. Ron Paul looks at him.”So you want to do it again? Why will it work this time and who’s going to get the money?”

It would be fascinating to watch. Obama is an economic illiterate. There is no evidence at all he has the vaguest understanding or interest in what makes America America. His tedious platitudes are already flat out of steam.

The dream match-up touted by Neo-con leadership and the globalists is Romney vs. Obama. It would be a tedious bore with two professional politicians who stand for absolutely nothing but advancing their own careers and the interests of their backers covering the same old ground and desperately trying to look different from the other.

Ron Paul is the man to destroy Obama. The globalists and Neo-Cons would be delighted to see Obama in power for another term. They would also be happy with Romney. That’s why they are terrified of Ron Paul winning the republican nomination. Because if he did so, they know for sure that their multi-generational criminal plundering of the USA would be revealed by the holder of the highest office in the land.

Herman Cain – The New GOP Favourite

Recent polling, if it’s to be believed, puts Herman Cain ahead of Mitt Romney as the preferred candidate of registered Republican voters. This seems utterly impossible to me and if there is any truth to it it points to the volatility of the electorate and the lack of any candidate with broad appeal.

Think about a Cain candidacy. Is it really likely the GOP is going to nominate a black man with zero political experience to take on Obama? Cain’s closet is full of skeletons and it’s only a matter of time before he does a Perry and falls flat on his face. Despite the best attempts of the republican establishment and their media contacts to make Cain and Romney the story, it seems impossible that he won’t wilt the moment the pressure is applied. Assistance from the media so far in not reporting small details like the 9-9-9 plan increasing the taxes paid by 84% of people are bombs waiting to explode. Cain’s candidacy is a media fantasy which will end the moment they reveal he doesn’t come with a happy ending.

And frankly, reports that he is supported by a majority of TEA Party supporters is another blow to the credibility of the polling. To think that the ultimate Federal Reserve insider is preferred by TEA party activists over Ron Paul is simply laughable. But that’s what the polls are telling us.

Personally, I see Herman Cain running against Obama as less likely than Ron Paul as the GOP candidate. I don;t for a second believe he is anything but a buffer so the media can inflate his contest with Romney to fill the available media space.

The reality is, of course, that Ron Paul is the second candidate in the race. The question is how long the establishment can maintain the pretense that he isn’t part of the race. So far they’ve failed to report on a straw-poll and debate season which would, in past election years, have seen Dr. Paul as the leading candidate. Since what was historically a guide to electability and momentum no longer deserves media coverage it’s going to be the New Hampshire Primary which gives us the first real taste of the genuine level of support enjoyed by candidates.

“Black This Out” Money Bomb Nets $2.75 Million

In another stunning fundraising day, Ron Paul supporters have stumped up almost 3 million dollars in what was promoted as the “Black This Out” Money Bomb.

And true to form, the mainstream media has indeed Blacked It Out.

It seems that as the Paul campaign gains traction and relevance the Mainstream is more determined than ever to keep his message from reaching the electorate.

The primaries season is a few months away and with the US economy slowly deflating, Europe in turmoil and no sign of genuine leadership with answers in either hemisphere Ron Paul could explode were he to receive a tenth of the support he deserves.

It will be interesting now the Paul “Restore America” plan is on the table to see whether the TEA Party activists will vote for Mitt Romney, as the media are telling us they will.
